Visiting the beautiful place called the Bahamas comes with
many cultural, historic, art, and humanities involved while visiting. If you
love clear blue water and beaches this is the perfect place for you! The
Bahamas is located in the North Atlantic Ocean off the east coast of the U.S.
of Florida and northeast of Cuba. While visiting this place you will be
surrounded by peaceful sandy beaches and shallow seas and a lot of wet
summers and dry winters. Some important factors before visiting the Bahamas that
you will need an updated passport for entry, two pages are required for entry
stamp in the passport, and no tourist visa is required. Currently, with COVID-19 going
around it is best to get tested 1-3 days before you travel to the Bahamas. Some
sights you might want to visit while staying in the Bahamas is Nassau, Exuma Cays
Land and Sea Park, and Blackbeard’s Tower in Nassau.
For the majority of the people on the island, English is primarily
the first language spoken. The cultural aspect makes up about 85% of African
descent and there is a small population of Asian and European ancestry. Another
big part of the culture made up is Haitian refugees. Throughout the island
makes up delicious seafood such as fish, shellfish, lobster, crab, and conch. Some
other foods are involved like potatoes, peas, rice, macaroni and cheese, and
fried chicken. On the island of the Bahamas music and dance come into play as
well. The people on the island do a lot of cultural dances while dressing up in
colorful costumes.
Some historic facts about this place that Christopher Columbus
first discovered in the New World were in the southeastern Bahamas and he renamed
it as San Salvador island. With the island being discovered by Columbus the Bahamas
expanded.
